FastCache

FastCache is the evolution of the FastCache CDN plugin originally developed by HOST S.p.A. (Host.it).

The current version introduces a complete caching and optimization system designed to significantly improve website performance while reducing infrastructure load.

The extension is no longer limited to CDN integration only. It now includes all the features expected from a modern caching solution, integrated into a coherent and modular software layer.

? Full Page Caching

FastCache implements a native full page caching system based on the generation of static HTML versions of pages.

Cached pages are served directly by the web server through .htaccess-level redirection, completely bypassing:

• PHP execution
• Database queries
• CMS core loading

This approach drastically reduces CPU and RAM usage, freeing system resources for operations that require dynamic processing, such as:

• Cart and checkout
• Order management
• Form submissions
• Searches
• Critical application processes

The result is improved site stability and better handling of traffic spikes.

FastCache integrates a proprietary CDN managed by HOST S.p.A.

Communication with the CDN is handled through a unique authentication token assigned to each website, enabling:

• Dynamic TTL management
• Selective content purge
• Automatic synchronization between local cache and CDN cache

When content is modified, FastCache automatically invalidates:

• The updated page
• The homepage
• Related categories
• Associated archives, RSS feeds and sitemaps

This mechanism allows reduced TTL values while ensuring content remains consistently up-to-date without manual intervention.
